Question 1

How does BaZi compatibility work?

Accepted Answer

BaZi compatibility analyzes how two people's Day Master elements interact based on the Five Element cycles. It examines whether the elements are in a Generating relationship (相生, mutually nourishing), Controlling relationship (相克, one dominates the other), Same Element (比和, parallel energy), or Neutral. The score reflects both Day Master harmony and the overall elemental balance across both charts.

Question 2

Is a high compatibility score a guarantee of a good relationship?

Accepted Answer

A high score indicates favorable elemental dynamics, but relationships are shaped by many factors beyond BaZi. The tool identifies natural strengths and potential friction points — use it as a guide for understanding, not a verdict. All element pairings can thrive with awareness.

Question 3

What is a Generating relationship in BaZi compatibility?

Accepted Answer

A Generating relationship (相生) means one person's Day Master element naturally feeds or nourishes the other's — like Wood fueling Fire, or Water nourishing Wood. This creates natural support, growth, and complementarity. Both partners tend to feel energized by the other.

Question 4

What is a Controlling relationship in BaZi compatibility?

Accepted Answer

A Controlling relationship (相克) means one element naturally restrains or disciplines the other — like Metal cutting Wood, or Fire melting Metal. This creates dynamic tension that can drive each other to grow. It doesn't mean incompatibility; many strong partnerships have Controlling dynamics.

Question 5

Does birth hour matter for compatibility?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Hour Pillar affects the overall elemental balance of your chart and can shift the Day Master's strength. While the Day Master is the primary factor in compatibility analysis, including the birth hour produces a more accurate reading. If you don't know your exact birth time, use hour 12 as a neutral default.

Question 6

What does the compatibility score number mean?

Accepted Answer

The score ranges from 0 to 100. Scores above 80 indicate highly harmonious elemental dynamics. Scores between 60-79 suggest good compatibility with some areas to navigate. Scores below 60 indicate challenging dynamics that call for greater mutual awareness. No score is a fixed destiny — understanding is the foundation of growth.

Question 7

Can I use BaZi compatibility for friendships or business partnerships?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. BaZi compatibility applies to any relationship where elemental dynamics matter — romantic partners, business co-founders, collaborators, or close friendships. The same principles of generating, controlling, same, and neutral relationships apply.
